Re:Hab Review from www.porttable.com.au

Hey.... we all need a break from reality, so why not check yourself into Rehab. Everyones doing it these days, and its not hard to see why, because Ports newest cafe-cum-music bar has the freshest coffee, the coolest vibe and viciously evil nougat treats. Okay, so cafes with net kiosks and wireless access are not exactly revolutionary, but the freaks in Re:Hab have stumbled onto something. The moment you check in youll feel it. Youll also smell it. Yes, thats fresh coffee in the air. The head honchos scoured the country looking for a blend that they would drive an extra five kilometers for and after months of false starts they found Coffee Supreme, a New Zealand company with a roastery in Melbourne. The Supreme ethos is to use only the best Arabica beans andto use them fresh; that is, within ten days of roasting. The result is coffee without bitterness, coffee with a deep, almost nutty taste, lovely complexities and a simply heady aroma. And the punters are voting with their feet, meaning that re:habs predominantly Kiwi baristas are on their feet until 10pm each night. Some people call us Kiwi coffee snobs, one of them told me, and yeah, we are. We just dont think theres much excuse for bad coffee. Having enjoyed the buzz of several long macchiatos I am certainly inclined to agree. An American tourist I sat next to told me hed spent the majority of his vacation in ReHab, hinting it had something to do with nougat. Curious, I drifted to the counter and sampled. ReHab have a beautiful selection of cakes, biscotti, muffins and more and their selection from Port Douglas Catering & Carries Catering is spot on. However, it is the nougat that stars. Rich and sexily creamy, it fills your palate with the kind of sticky joy that some countries outlaw. If you break your diet just once in FNQ, do it for the nougat. Of course you could spend your time in Re:Hab surfing the net or reading Ports funkiest little mag, re:port, (yes, there is a connection), but youd be better off checking out the locals who have started to develop Coffee Supreme addictions. They’re a friendly bunch of misfits. Almost entirely harmless. There’s a few cute ones too … looks like it’s time to check yourself in, folks.
